Patchogue, NY: The Saint Joseph's College of Long Island women's lacrosse team posted a non-conference victory over Ramapo College this afternoon, 14-8. The Golden Eagles move to 1-1 overall while the Roadrunners drop to 1-3 on the season.
The Roadrunners led 3-2 with just over seven minutes remaining in the first period as
Kelly Griffin scored two goals and
Colleen Mason put in the other. The Golden Eagles then scored three straight goals, including two in the second period, to take a 5-3 lead before Griffin and
Caitlyn Featherstone scored back-to-back goals for the Roadrunners to tie the game at five. Each team put an unassisted goal into the back of the net for a six all score before St. Joseph's LI scored three for a 9-6 lead. In the final two periods, the Roadrunners scored two more goals to the Golden Eagles five as they came away with a 14-8 win.
Featherstone and Griffin each scored three goals to lead the Roadrunners on offense while
Alyssa Curto posted 12 saves in the net for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, March 15 when they travel to Manhattanville College for a 5pm non-conference game.
