WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL CROWNED NJAC CHAMPIONS

Galloway, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's volleyball team has won the 2023 NJAC Championship with a 3-2 (20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13) win over #1 seeded Stockton University. The #2 seeded Roadrunners extend their match win streak to 13 straight and now stand at 25-1 overall. The Ospreys drop to 21-11 on the season.
 
Ramapo dropped the first set before taking the next two. Stockton came back to win set four to force a winner-take-all set five as the Roadrunners outlasted an Osprey push down the stretch. Rookie Karolina Rodriguez put down the final kill for the Roadrunners as they captured their first NJAC Championship Title in program history.
 
Rookie Maliyah LaBrie led the Roadrunners with 18 kills while she added eight digs, two assists and one ace. Senior Desiree Cruz hit .526 in the match with 13 kills on 19 attempts and just three errors. Cruz also led the way with five total blocks including four solo blocks. Rodriguez put down 11 kills on 19 attempts with just one error to also hit .526 while she added two solo blocks and three digs. Senior Penelope Rivera added ten kills, two aces, one block and seven digs while junior Cleopatra Diakou dished out a team high 44 assists while adding two kills and 12 digs. Junior Katie Bishop added nine assists and three digs while junior Krystal Santiago Oquendo led the team on defense with 19 digs while she added two kills and four assists. Senior Kalme Moncavo added seven kills and was second with 14 digs while adding one solo block and one assist. Ramapo hit .219 in the match with 63 total kills on 151 attempts and 30 errors.
 
For the Ospreys, Katie Louerr and Nicole Palmer each collected 13 kills while Louer added seven digs and three total blocks. Ashley Carkhuff added eight digs, three aces and seven digs while Aburey Rentzel posted a team high 22 assists and Regan Mendick added 18 of her own in the match. On defense, McKenna Ritchie posted 11 digs to lead Stockton. The Ospreys recorded 56 kills on 155 attempts with 22 errors to hit .219 in the match.
