Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team extended their win streak to seven matches with a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Kean University, 3-2 (23-25, 25-27, 26-24, 26-24, 15-13). The Roadrunners improve to 19-1 overall and 6-1 in the NJAC while they clinch the #2 seed in the upcoming NJAC Women's Volleyball Tournament. The Cougars move to 14-10 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
With the win, Ramapo will receive a bye into the NJAC Semifinal to be played on Thursday, November 9th. The Roadrunners will host the winner of the first-round match of the #3 seed vs. #4 seed. A full NJAC bracket will be released by the conference following the final regular season matches. Ticket prices for all rounds/all sites of the tournament are $10.00 for adults; $5.00 for students (with ID); $5.00 for senior citizens; and $5.00 for children. All ticket sales are CASH ONLY.
Maliyah LaBrie led the Roadrunners in the five-set win with 22 kills while adding two aces.
Penelope Rivera recorded a season best 20 kills and added 13 digs, one block and one ace.
Karolina Rodriguez collected ten kills and two solo blocks while
Desiree Cruz and
Kalme Moncavo each posted nine kills in the match. Cruz led the way with four total blocks including two solo while Moncavo added 20 digs.
Krystal Santiago Oquendo led the way on defense with 24 digs while adding four assists and two kills.
Cleopatra Diakou dished out a team high 42 assists and added seven digs and one kill. The team recorded 73 kills on 203 with 32 errors to hit .202 in the match.
Cayley Elena Morrison led the Cougars with 19 kills as she hit .385 in the match with a match high five solo blocks and three assisted blocks. Bella Stem tallied 11 kills and added three assisted blocks and seven digs. Aspen O'Brien recorded a team high 47 assists while she added 12 digs. Madeline Dohogne posted 25 digs to lead the team on defense.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Centenary University for a non-conference match at 3:00pm.
