Ewing, NJ: The #17 ranked College of New Jersey field hockey team earned a 6-1 NJAC victory to remain undefeated in the conference at 3-0 overall while they moved to 9-3 on the year. The Roadrunners now stand at 3-8 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC.
The Lions got on the board early with a goal in the second minute of play (1:34) as Mackenzie Hart took a pass from Rayhanah Ahmed. The Roadrunners tied the game in the sixth minute (5:04) as
Juliana Mikulski slipped a pass back to
Victoria Chavez as she scored her fourth goal of the year, 1-1. The goal was just the second time the Roadrunners have scored on TCNJ in 19 games played and first since the 2006 season. Ahmed collected her 7th goal of the season to put TCNJ in the lead in the 8th minute (7:27) for a 2-1 lead. Neither team scored in the second quarter before TCNJ added three goals in the third. Bella Niardo (34:22), Claire Engebreth (39:28) and Ahmed (43:16) each scored for the Lions while Engebreth tacked on the final goal in the fourth quarter (54:49) for the 6-1 lead.
TCNJ held a 12-3 advantage in shots in goal in the game while the Lions collected 12 penalty corners to Ramapo's three.
Michelle Kukan posted six saves in goal for the Roadrunners. Brigitte Racey tallied two saves for the Lions in goal in just over 54 minutes of action while Saige Berkowicz did not need to make a save in the final 5:11 of the game.
The Roadrunners return to action at the Athletic Center Turf Field on Saturday, October 14th when they host Stockton University in a NJAC game at 4:00pm.
