Galloway, NJ: The Stockton University women's volleyball team handed Ramapo College their first loss of the season, 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 25-12, 19-25, 15-13) in a five set match tonight at the Stockton Sports Center. The Ospreys move to 12-8 overall and remain undefeated in the NJAC at 4-0 while the Roadrunners now stand at 12-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
Stockton took the first and third sets while Ramapo won sets two and four to force a winner-take-all fifth set. The two teams pushed each other during the fifth set before Stockton came away with a two-point win, 15-13, to take the match.
Kalme Moncavo and
Penelope Rivera led the way for the Roadrunners with 15 and 12 kills respectively. Moncavo tallied seven digs while Rivera posted four blocks, one ace and 12 digs.
Desiree Cruz added nine kills, six assisted blocks and two solo blocks along with four digs.
Karolina Rodriguez posted nine kills, two blocks and two digs while
Maliyah LaBrie also posted nine kills along with two blocks and a team high 15 digs. Krystal Santiago posted 14 digs on defense while
Cleopatra Diakou recorded 12 digs and a season high 37 assists. The Roadrunners collected 57 kills on 177 attempts and 27 errors to hit .169 in the match.
For Stockton, Kate Louer and Nicole Palmer each posted 12 kills while Ashley Carkhuff added nine. Teleyah Witherspoon posted a match high eight blocks while Egan Mendick dished out a team high 27 assists. McKenna Ritchie tallied 21 digs on defense while Ashley Carkuff posted 18 and Aubrey Rentzel added 12. The Ospreys recorded 53 kills on 163 attempts and 26 errors to hit .166 in the match.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 14th when they travel to Skidmore College for a non-conference tri-match along with Bard College. The Roadrunners will take on Bard at 1pm and host Skidmore at 3pm.
