ROWAN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS RAMAPO IN NJAC ACTION

Mahwah, NJ:  The Rowan University women's basketball team earned a, 54-41, NJAC road win over Ramapo College today at the Bradley Center. The Profs improve to 13-7 overall and 9-4 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 14-6 overall and 8-5 in the NJAC.
 
The two teams played a tight first and second quarter as Rowan held a 21-20 lead at halftime. The Profs used a strong third quarter where they scored 23 points and held Ramapo to just ten to go into the final quarter with a 44-30 lead. In the fourth, Ramapo cut the lead to nine with 6:27 on the clock with a mini 7-2 run. Karly Whittenbauer started the run before Rowan added two points from Dakota Adams. Jackie Ventricelli sank a three-pointer for the Roadrunners off a dish from Shannon Burns before Jada Thompson cut the lead to just nine with a basket of her own. Rowan would extend their lead to 17 with an 8-0 run which gave them a 54-37 lead with just 1:38 on the clock. Ramapo wrapped up the game scoring the final four points, all on the free throw line.
 
Kate Herlihy scored 14 points to lead the Profs in the game while Adams added ten points and eight rebounds. Reagan Russo posted eight points and three rebounds while Nicole Mallard tacked on six points and three steals. The Profs shot 31% (19-60) from the field, 21% (4-11) from the three-point line and 75% (12-16) from the free throw line. Rowan forced 31 Ramapo turnovers which led to 27 points for the Profs.
 
Ventricelli led the Roadrunners with 18 points including a season high four three-pointers and eight steals. Cahill added seven points and four rebounds while Thompson grabbed eight rebounds while adding four points and two steals. Burns also grabbed eight rebounds in the game. Ramapo forced 27 Rowan turnovers in the game which led to 12 points for the Roadrunners. Ramapo shot 25% (13-51) from the floor, 21% (5-23) from the three-point line and 47% (10-21) from the free throw line.  
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, February 1st when they host NJAC rival New Jersey City University at the Bradley Center at 5:30pm.
