Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team posted their second shutout of the season over visiting Albertus Magnus College, 10-0. The Roadrunners moved to 2-1 overall while the Falcons open the season at 0-1.
Eight players scored for the Roadrunners in the win as
Victoria Docherty and
Allison Tanasy each collected two goals each while
Tessa Pofahl posted a team high three assists. In the first quarter of action, Docherty took a pass from
Victoria Chavez in the first two minutes of action (1:11) to get Ramapo on the board.
Katie Yarussi then collected a save off the Falcon goalkeeper and was able to find the back of the cage for a 2-0 score in the 7th minute (6:24). In the second quarter the Roadrunners poured in five goals; on each from
Maggie Farrell, Tanasy,
Emily Ricciardi,
Ana Plaia and
Julianna Gentilucci to push the score to 7-0.
Mariah Tovar collected her first goal of the season in the third quarter (39:31) while Tanasy and Docherty wrapped up the scoring in the fourth quarter with one goal each, 10-0.
Ramapo posted 58 shots in the game while they put 32 on frame while the Falcon collected one shot in the fourth quarter. Serena Montague posted 22 saves for Albertus Magnus while
Michelle Kukan and
Erika Roura split the game and each saw 30 minutes in the net for the Roadrunners.
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, September 7th when they host non-conference rival FDU-Florham at the Athletic Center Turf Field at 4pm. This is a rematch of the 2021 ECAC Championship game which Ramapo won, 2-1.
