Mahwah, NJ: The Montclair State University women's volleyball team battled Ramapo College in a five-set match coming away with a 3-2 (25-16, 18-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-10 road conference win. The Red Hawks move to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
MSU won set one, three and the fifth set to earn their first NJAC win of the season. The Red Hawks were led by Leah Higgins with 18 kills and Skye Ramsey and Gianna Arias with 15 kills each. Emily Carcich dished out a match high 61 assists while Emma Hatcher posted 26 digs to lead the team. Higgins added 21 digs while Katie Rodman posted 11. The team hit .249 in the match with 68 total kills.
Ramapo took set two before they came back to win set four to force the winner take-all fifth set.
Caleigh Golabek led the team with 17 kills in the match while she added five blocks.
Stephanie Ross posted ten kills, three aces and a team high 21 digs while
Riley Stewart tallied a team high seven total blocks along with six kills.
Katie Bishop and
Alexandra Sacchinelli recorded three aces each while Sacchinelli added 19 assists.
Emma Moran was second on the team with 19 digs on defense while
Jenna Stolker added seven of her own. The Roadrunners collected 42 total kills in the match.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, September 22nd when they travel to Rutgers-Camden University for a 7pm NJAC match.
