Mahwah, NJ: The #20 ranked Vassar College field hockey team earned a 3-1 road win over Ramapo College today at the Athletic Center Turf Field. The Brewers move to 5-2 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-2 on the year.
Gianna Trunfio put Vassar on the board in the third minute of action (2:13) with her second goal of the season off a pass from Adah Anderson for a quick 1-0 lead. Neither team would score in the second or third quarters before Leilani Llamas put in her third goal of the season to put the Brewers up, 2-0. Max Mejaard earned the assist in the 48th minute. Ramapo was awarded a penalty stroke in the 54th minute (53:42) of play as
Emily Ricciardi hit the back of the net to cut the lead in half. Vassar would get an insurance goal just a few minutes later (55:10) as Jaclyn Narleski ripped a shot off a pass from Sam Kass for the 3-1 lead.
Vassar held a 16-10 advantage in shots in the game including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. Ramapo earned nine penalty corners while the Brewers collected seven.
Michelle Kukan collected four saves for the Roadrunners while Sarah Dumaresq tallied two for Vassar.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Wednesday, September 21st when they travel to Dallas, PA for a non-conference game at Misericordia University. The game time is set for 7pm.
