Throggs Neck, NY: The Maritime women's lacrosse team earned a 14-7 win over Ramapo College tonight in non-conference action. The Privateers remain undefeated at 6-0 overall while the Roadrunners move to 1-5 overall.
Kelly Griffin scored first in the game to put Ramapo 1-0 with an unassisted goal in the first quarter. Gabrielle Nicolosi then scored back-to-back goals for Maritime to put them in the lead, 2-1 before
Colleen Mason tied the game with a goal at the end of the first quarter off an assist from
Kaylie Gresek. In the second quarter, Maritime added three goals to their lead while Ramapo's
Emma Cowap put in one off a free position shot, 3-5 heading into the third.
Maritime poured in seven goals in the third while Ramapo added just one as Maritime extended their lead 12-4. Griffin put two in for Ramapo in the fourth quarter while
Esme Espinosa added one for the team while Maritime added two for the 14-7 victory.
Maritime goalie recorded four saves in the game while Roadrunner goalie
Alyssa Curto posted nine.
Ramapo returns to action at home on Wednesday, March 30th when they host St. Joseph's College-Long Island in a 4pm non-conference match.
