Mahwah, NJ: The John Jay College women's basketball team defeated Ramapo College 71-67 in non-conference action today at the Bradley Center. The Bloodhounds move to 7-5 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 9-2 on the season.

Four Bloodhounds scored in double figures in the road win including two players off the bench as they were led by Bobbi Green with 20 points, 11 rebounds and six steals. Ashley Zeolla and Chayanne Kelly each collected 11 points while Katie Healy contributed with ten points and six rebounds. John Jay shot 41% (30-73) from the floor, 14% (1-7) from the three-point line and 58% (10-17) from the free throw line. The John Jay defense forced 24 Ramapo turnovers which led to 29 points for the Bloodhounds.

The Roadrunners were led by
Olivia Johnstone who tallied 18 points including a team high four made three-pointers while she added two rebounds and three assists.
Jackie Ventricelli recorded 14 points, five rebounds, five assists and six steals and
Jada Thompson added seven rebounds, ten points and three assists.
Alison Ahern and
Shannon Burns each contributed with eight points. Ramapo shot 40% (24-59) from the floor in the game, 34% (8-23) from the three-point line and 55% (11-20) from the free throw line.

The Roadrunners held a lead heading into the fourth quarter before John Jay went on a 9-2 run to start the quarter to cut the lead to just two with 7:05 on the clock. Cahill made a basket for Ramapo before Kamryn Hammond made a three-pointer and a jumper for the Bloodhounds to take a 61-60 lead. The two teams traded baskets with the lead changing twice before Karly Whittenbauer made a basket to start a mini 4-0 run capped off by a free throw from Thompson as Ramapo held a one point lead with less than two minutes to play, 66-65. In the final minute of action, the Bloodhounds converted on the free throw line to retake the lead before Ramapo had possession of the ball to tie the game with under 30 seconds to play and could not score. John Jay then made one free throw, 69-66, before Burns made one of two at the line. Green scored the final points of the game with ten seconds left, a pair of free throws, as John Jay held onto the non-conference victory, 71-67.

Ramapo returns to action on January 4th when they travel to Montclair State University for a NJAC conference game at 5:30pm.Â
