Mahwah, NJ: The #2 seeded New Jersey City University men's soccer team earned a 1-0 overtime win over #1 seeded Ramapo College today in the ECAC Quarterfinals of Pod #2. The Gothic Knights (12-5-2 overall) advance to the semifinal where they will play the winner of Alvernia University and Goucher College. The Roadrunners wrap up the 2022 season with a 6-7-4 overall record.
Neither team could find the back of the net in regulation as the game would head into the first overtime period with a 0-0 score. With 19 seconds left in the overtime period, Juan Vizcaino found the back of the net off a pass from Danny Tobon to lift the Gothic Knights over the Roadrunners with a golden goal, 1-0.
For the game, the Roadrunners collected 12 shots on goal to NJCU's three while Ramapo collected ten corner kicks to the Gothic Knight's one. Nick Linebaugh recorded nine saves in the net for NJCU while Khalid Kwaik recorded three saves in the final nine minutes of the game.
Nikolai Matthews posted two saves for the Roadrunners while he faced eight shots.
