Mahwah, NJ: The #12/15 ranked Montclair State University women's soccer team earned a 3-1 win today over Ramapo College at the Athletic Center Turf Field. The Red Hawks remain undefeated at 10-0 overall and 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Roadrunners move to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
MSU put a goal on the board early in the first half to take a quick 1-0 lead. Emmi DeNovellis scored her first goal of the season in the 4th minute (3:34) when she ripped a shot from 30-yards out into the upper 90 of the net. Tara Lambert made it a 2-0 game as she took a pass from Aileen Cahill. The shot from Lambert in the 27th minute banked off the left post and into the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
Ramapo got on the board early in the second half when
Lauren Vladyka scored off a corner kick from
Sam Ingannamorte to cut the Red Hawk lead in half (49:45). This was the first goal the Red Hawks gave up in NJAC play this season. MSU would put one more goal on the board in the second half as Cahill scored her team leading 6th goal of the year on a penalty kick in the 19th minute, 3-1. For the game, MSU posted 27 shots including 15 on goal while Ramapo recorded four shots and three on goal. The Red Hawks also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks in the game. Haley Martin posted two saves in the net for MSU while Ramapo's
Emma Conlan collected 12 saves in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 8th when they travel to New Jersey City University for a 1pm NJAC game.
