MONTCLAIR STATE FIELD HOCKEY SLIPS PAST RAMAPO, 2-1

Mahwah, NJ: The Montclair State University field hockey team posted a 2-1 win over Ramapo College this afternoon snapping the Roadrunners three-game win streak. The Red Hawks improve to 6-4 overall, 1-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners move to 7-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
 
MSU took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter as Carlie Van Tassel put the Red Hawks on the board off an assist from Linsey Champa in the 10th minute (9:18). MSU was awarded a penalty stroke in the 12th minute (11:41) of action as Kylie Compton converted with her first goal of the season for a 2-0 lead.
 
In the second quarter, Victoria Chavez posted her second goal (22:17) of the season off a pass from Julianna Gentilucci to cut the MSU lead in half. Ramapo would go on to post seven more shots in the third and fourth quarters combined. For the game Ramapo tallied 12 shots, eight on goal while MSU posted eight shots and four on goal. Lauren Pickul posted seven saves in goal for the Red Hawks in the road victory. Michelle Kukan posted two saves for the Roadrunners.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, October 5th when they travel to William Paterson University for a NJAC game at 7pm.
