Wayne, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team posted their fourth win in the last five games with a 1-0 shutout win over William Paterson University. The Roadrunners improve to 8-3 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC while the Pioneers now stand at 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Roadrunners scored the game winner when
Victoria Chavez scored her third goal of the season in the second quarter.
Maggie Farrell inserted the penalty corner to
Mariah Tovar who slipped a pass to
Clare Nugent. Nugent fired in a shot which was redirected into the back of the cage from Chavez to put Ramapo on the board, 1-0 (26:28).
Michelle Kukan and the Roadrunner defense held the Pioneers to just one shot on goal as Kukan earned the save. Kourtney Hartzel recorded three saves in the net for WPU.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, October 12th when they travel to their final non-conference game at Keystone College at 7pm.
