Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team has been picked to finish fifth in the
2021 NJAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced today by the league office. The Roadrunners also received one first place vote.
Ramapo last stepped onto the court in 2019 and finished the season 14-8 overall while they earned a #5 seed in the NJAC Tournament and a #2 seed in the ECAC Tournament. Led by head coach Rob Pichardo now in his 17th season, the Roadrunners look to make the NJAC Tournament for the 15th time under his direction. "After having a season off from competitive play in the NJAC, the team is extremely excited and motivated to get back onto the court for the upcoming season", says Coach Pichardo.
The Roadrunners graduated a large class over the last two seasons while they return two starters from 2019 in Caleigh Golabek and Stephanie Ross. Ross posted 126 kills, five assists, 23 aces, 175 digs and eight blocks. Golabek collected 75 kills, four assists, 18 aces, 38 digs and a team high 36 total blocks. Also returning to the Roadrunner team are Aniella Bednarz and Ashley Pichardo. Bednarz recorded 124 kills during the 2018 season along with 10 assists, four aces and a team high 71 blocks. During the 2017 season, Pichardo tallied 13 kills and four digs. Coach Pichardo will also look to the sophomore and freshman classes to build a competitive lineup to compete for a NJAC Championship.
