Jersey City, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team swept NJAC rival New Jersey City University today on the road to even their conference record at 2-2 while they move to 11-7 overall. The Roadrunners won game one 5-0 and game two 8-0 in six innings. The Gothic Knights drop to 4-14 on the season and 0-4 in the conference.

Game One
The Roadrunners belted out 12 hits and starting pitcher
Erin Fitzsimmons (2-2) struck out eight, walked one and scattered just two hits in 6.1 innings of work. Ramapo scored four runs in the sixth and one run in the seventh to earn their first NJAC victory of the season.
Paige Merle came into the game in the seventh inning to record the final two outs. She recorded an infield pop fly and a ground out to end the inning.

The ball did not leave the infield as the Roadrunners scored their first run of the game.
Shannon Cox led off with a bunt single before
Krista Verrino reach on an error on a bunt while Cox moved to third base on the play.
Harper Patsko then put down a bunt single to score Cox as Verrino advanced to third to put runners on the corners. Patsko then stole second as Verrino raced home on the throw from the NJCU catcher to take a 2-0 lead.
Carli Egan beat out a bunt single as Patsko advanced to third before
Nicole Hernandez plated Patsko with a RBI fielder's choice.
Sisi Machinski put down a bunt single before
Jackie Howarth singled to right field to load the bases for
Ally Spellman. Spellman delivered with a RBI single through the left side of the inning for a 4-0 lead.

With one out in the top of the seventh Verrino beat out a bunt single and stole second before she moved up to third base on an infield ground out. Egan then drove her home with a single through the left side of the infield to extend the lead 5-0. The Roadrunners held the Gothic Knights in the bottom of the seventh for the NJAC road win. Howarth was perfect at the plate in game one 3-3 while Verrino and Egan each collected two hits.

Game two
Howarth got the Roadrunners on the board in the top of the third inning. She beat out a bunt single and then raced to second base on the play when the base was not being covered by the NJCU defense. Later in the inning she stole third base and was able to score when the throw got away as she slid into home plate safely.

In the fifth inning, Ramapo added five runs on four hits to extend their lead 6-0.
Sisi Machinski walked and later came home on an infield throwing error for the first run of the inning. Spellman drove home Howarth with a single before
Christina Brizek laced a double down the left field line allowing Verrino and Spellman to score. Patsko then drove home Brizek with a single for the fifth run of the inning. In the top of the sixth inning the Roadrunners tacked on two runs for an 8-0 lead. Howarth walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and came home on Verrino's single to left field before Brizek drove home Verrino with a hard hit single up the middle 8-0.

The Roadrunners held the Gothic Knights in the bottom of the sixth as they came away with the run-ruled six inning victory. Ramapo starting pitcher
Katrina Buczkowski (5-1) struck out six, walked one and scattered four hits in the complete game shutout win. Ramapo collected ten hits in the game as Spellman led the way finishing 3-3 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI. Howarth scored three runs and finished 2-3 while Brizek led the team with three RBI and was 2-4 with one run scored.

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 10th when they host Rutgers-Newark University at the Athletic Center at 3pm.
