Mahwah, NJ: The Montclair State University women's swim team defeated Ramapo College this afternoon 153-109. The Red Hawks improve to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners fall to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
The 200-yard medley relay team out touched the Red Hawks at the wall with a 1:52.81 time to capture first place. The team was made up of
Julia Housel,
Kassandra Warmuz,
Meghan Trewhella and
Maggie Herbert.
Herbert placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.66 just missing out on a first place finish as the Red Hawks swimmer touched the wall in 1:59.45. Housel's time in the 100-yard backstroke was a personal best time this season when she clocked in at 1:00.16 for a first place finish. Warmuz and
Grace McCrone went 2-3 in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:13.42 and 1:14.65 respectively.
Breanna Gleason captured a first place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a winning time of 2:18.67, also a personal best time, while Herbert won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.45. Trewhella clocked in at 25.51 for a third place finish in the same event. Herbert finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.85 while MSU swimmer Genna Brewer who placed first touched the wall in 54.77 to take first place. In the 200-yard backstroke, Housel almost broke her own school record (2:08.40) when she clocked in at 2:10.20 for first place. Ramapo took home the 2-3-4 places in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Madison Riccardi (2:40.49) placed second, Warmuz (2:41.25) placed third and
Aiyana Alfinez (2:44.74) finished in fourth place. McCrone finished in second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:49.30 while Gleason took home a second place finish in the 200-yard IM when she clocked in at 2:20.37.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team wrapped up the meet for the Roadrunners with a second place finish. They clocked in at 3:56.82. The team was made up of Warmuz, Housel, McCrone and Gleason.
