Osceola, FL: The Ramapo College softball team swept a pair of games today at the Rebel Spring Games with wins over the College of St. Scholastica 10-2 in five innings and a 3-0 blanking of Wheaton College (MA). The Roadrunners improve to 6-2 overall.

Ramapo got on the board in the second inning when they scored five runs on three hits. Starting pitcher
Christina Brizek led off the inning with a double to right centerfield before advancing to third on an infield groundout.
Ally Spellman then poked a single through the right side of the infield allowing Brizek to touch home plate with the game's first run.
Olivia Mahon reached on an infield error to put runners on first and second before they both moved up a pass ball.
Jackie Howarth then drove home Spellman with a single to left field before Mahon scored on a fielder's choice for a 3-0 lead. Howarth and
Harper Patsko recorded a double steal to put runners on second and third before they each scored on a fielding error for a 5-0 score.

The Roadrunners added one run in the third inning when Howarth drove home
Grace Brennan with a RBI single to take a 6-0 lead. The Saints scored their two runs in the bottom half of the third inning before Ramapo added four runs to their lead in the top of the fourth inning. With one out,
Nicole Mahoney and Brizek each singled before both moved up one base on a wild pitch. Brennan walked to load the bases before Spellman drove home Mahoney with a sacrifice fly. Brizek scored on an infield error before pinch hitter
Shannon Cox beat out an infield single allowing Brennan to cross home plate. Howarth collected another RBI with a single up the middle to plate Mahon with the fourth run of the inning to take a 10-2 lead.

Brizek (2-1) earned the win on the mound with three strikeouts, no walks as she scattered five hits over three innings of work.
Paige Merle struck out two, walked three and did not give up a hit in the final two innings. Howarth led the team with a 3-4 performance including three RBI and one run scored while Spellman and Brizek each collected two hits in the game.

In game two the game remained tied 0-0 until Ramapo broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs. Spellman led off the inning with a double down the left field line before Mahon drove her home with a hard hit single through the right side of the infield for a 1-0 lead. Cox then pinch hit and beat out an infield hit putting runners on the corners with no outs.
Sisi Machinski reentered the game for Cox before Howarth drove home Mahon with a single down the right field line 2-0. Patsko then put down a suicide squeeze allowing Machinski to slide home safely extending the lead 3-0.

Ramapo starting pitcher
Erin Fitzsimmons (2-0) struck out seven, walked three and scattered four hits in the complete game win. Howarth led the team with two hits and one RBI while Patsko and Mahon each collected a RBI in the game.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they take on Lesley University at 11:15am and Marietta College at 3:45pm at the Rebel Spring Games.
