Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's swim team defeated NJAC foe Kean University 117-71 in the first conference meet of the season. The Roadrunners even their overall record at 1-1 while they start the NJAC season at 1-0. The Cougars now stand at 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Roadrunners won the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:20.65. The team was made up of
Julia Housel,
Grace McCrone,
Meghan Trewhella and
Maggie Herbert.
Kaitlin McGowan and
Abigael Coughlin went back to back in the 1,000-yard freestle with times of 12:20.57 and 12:43.56 respectively. Bree Gleason and
Julia Housel finished in first (2:06.81) and second (2:08.81) while Trewhella posted a winning time of 26:15 in the 50-yard freestyle race. Ramapo finished in the top three spots of the 200-yard IM with Gleason in first place (2:26.78),
Eliza Pluckhorn in second place (2:27.50) and
Aiyana Alfinez placing third overall (2:44.47).
Herbert won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.38 while Gleason placed second in 1:10.52. Trewhella posted a sub one-minute time in the 100-yard freestyle when she clocked in at 59.98 and Pluckhorn and Kiara Liwag placed 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:05.75 and 1:09.31.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, November 4th when they travel to NJAC rival the College of New Jersey at 1pm.
