MEN'S VOLLEYBALL SPLITS IN NON-CONFERENCE TRI-MATCH

Roadrunners hand #3 Stevens their first set loss of the season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team improved to 4-1 overall with a split at today's tri-match. The Roadrunners fell to Stevens of Institute of Technology 1-3 (18-25, 25-21, 17-25, 17-25) in the first match before they defeated Medaille College 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-21) in the final match of the day.
 
In their first match-up of the day against #3 ranked Stevens of Institute of Technology, the Roadrunners dropped set one, 18-25 before taking the second set, 25-21, handing Stevens their first set loss of the season.  The Ducks would fight back to take the third (25-17), and fourth (25-17) to take the match, 3-1.  Stevens jumps ahead to 4-0 on the year while Ramapo falls to 3-1.  David Leham led the Ducks with 18 kills and Gabe Shankweiler collected 17 as the team hit 52-97 hitting .402.  Jacob Patterson dished out 40 assists and Shankweiler picked up a team leading nine digs while Patterson picked up seven of his own.  Patterson and Jordan Stuart each recorded five assisted blocks.  Ramapo's Justin Feigeles recorded 18 kills and Nick Amos added eight as the team combined for 41 kills on 101 attempts and 23 errors.  Mikhael Erushalimski dished out a team leading 34 assists and Garrett Fitzsimmons led the defense with seven digs.  Erushalimski collected four total blocks. 
 
Stevens and Medaille faced off in the second match-up of the day where Stevens improved to 5-0 overall on the year with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-15) over the Mavericks.  Medaille gets their first loss of the season at 2-1.  Shankweiler led the Ducks with 18 kills and Stuart, Dyal DeBoer and Alexander Carpenter each picked up five kills.  The team hit 39-75 with 16 errors hitting .307.  Patterson dished out 23 assists and Scott Russell added 11 while the defense was led by Niko Lambert with seven digs.  Medialle's Calvin Crosby led the team hitting .217 with ten kills and Sam Bloomberg added three as the team combined for 20-85 with 24 errors hitting -.047.  Matt Dempsey dished out 15 assists and Daniel Joseph picked up a team leading six digs.
 
In the final match-up of the day, Ramapo was once again led by Feigeles with 13 kills and two aces. Fitzsimmons posted nine kills while Brandow added six of his own. Amos led the team with four total blocks while Brandow and Erushalimski each collected two in the match. Erushalimski also dished out a team high 29 assists while Terrence Cando posted a team high ten digs. The team combined for 39 kills on 81 attempts and 21 errors as they hit .222 in the match. Medaille (2-2 overall) was led by Crosby with 11 kills while the team hit .042 in the match with 22 kills on 72 attempts and 19 errors. Matt Dempsey led the team with 19 assists and six digs.
 
Ramapo returns to action on February 4th at home when they host Baruch, Lasell and Stevenson beginning at 11am at the Bradley Center.
