Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team swept a NJAC double header from rival Montclair State University today 9-1 in game one and 8-0 in game two. The Roadrunners improve to 20-10 overall, 10-4 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks fall to 20-14 overall, 4-10 in the NJAC.
Game 1:
Danielle Saporito led off the game being hit by a pitch before
Harper Patsko reached on an error and
Mikayla Melendez loaded the bases with a single to right field.
Melanie Walling lifted a sac fly to center field allowing Saporito to score before
Christina Brizek ripped a double plating Patsko for a 2-0 lead.
Grace Brennan then laced a single to right center allowing Melendez and Brizek to score to go up 4-0. The Roadrunners added single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to extend their lead 7-0 before MSU got on the board in the fifth with one run of their own. In the seventh inning Ramapo added two runs on four hits to take a 9-1 lead. Patsko plated

Katrina Buczkowski (9-5) struck out seven, walked none and let up only three hits. Patsko, Melendez and
Nicole Mahoney all recorded three hits in the game for Ramapo.
Game 2: Ramapo starting pitcher
Christina Brizek (11-3) fired a five-inning complete game no hitter, the first of her career. She struck out four and walked none in the game while the Roadrunners pounded out 11 hits. The Roadrunners scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Saporito scored on a bases loaded fielder's choice before
Melissa Moreno singled home Patsko with a single to center field. Brennan was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded allowing Melendez to score before Mahoney lifted a sac fly to right field allowing Brizek to cross home plate for the 4-0 lead. In the second inning
Melanie Walling drove home Patsko with a single before Walling doubled home Saporito in the fourth for a 6-0 lead. The Roadrunners extended their lead to 8-0 in the top of the fifth with Patsko drove home
Ally Spellman and Mahoney with a single to center field. Brizek and the Roadrunners held MSU in the bottom half of the fifth for the run-rule victory.
Patsko led the team finishing 3-4 with two runs scored and one RBI while Walling drove home two RBI going 2-3 on the day.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday when they host NJAC rival Rutgers Camden University at home at 3:30pm.
