RAMAPO EARNS PROGRAM'S FIRST NCAA TOURNAMENT BID

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's volleyball team has earned the program's first ever bid to the 2016 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament. The Roadrunners (24-5) earned one of 20 at-large bids up for grabs in the field of 64 teams. Forty-three conferences earned an automatic bid to the tournament for winning their conference championship.

The Roadrunners, who recorded a 19-match win streak this season, will travel to Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ for their first round match. The Ducks will host the first, second and third round match-ups this weekend, November 11th through 13th.

Ramapo will square off against a familiar non-conference foe in Hunter College (19-14) who captured their third straight CUNYAC Conference Title. The Roadrunners and Hawks will take the floor at Walker Gymnasium on Friday, November 11th at 12:30pm. Ramapo defeated Hunter three times this season. The two teams met in the first match of the year on Sept. 2nd with Ramapo earning a five-set match victory, 3-2 (19-25, 25-15, 25-17, 18-25, 15-7). The Roadrunners defeated Hunter once again on Sept. 16th at the Bradley Center, 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-21). Their final match-up came on Sept. 24th at Hunter as Ramapo won, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-13).

The winner of the Ramapo/Hunter match will take on the winner of the Farmingdale State (19-6) and Eastern (29-5) match on November 12th. Eastern and Farmingdale both won their conference titles to earn the automatic bid. Ramapo defeated Farmingdale State on October 27th at home in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-18).

The only other team the Roadrunners are familiar with in the bracket is NJAC rival Montclair State University. The Red Hawks recently defeated Ramapo in an exciting four-set match in the NJAC Championship on November 5th. The Roadrunners defeated MSU during the regular season, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-19).

Offensively the Roadrunners are led junior outside hitter Larysa Iwaskiw. Iwaskiw, who is also the career kills leader at Ramapo, has posted a team high 603 kills this season, 5.91 per set.
