Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's swim team defeated NJAC rival William Paterson University tonight 144-107 at the Adele & Reuben Thomas Swimming Pool. The Roadrunners even their overall record to 3-3 while they stand at 1-2 in the NJAC. The Pioneers drop to 9-4 overall, 0-2 in the conference.
The 200-yard medley relay team placed first overall when they clocked in at 1:57.96. The team was made up of
Danielle Bach,
Samantha Chan,
Sarah Stacey and
Brenda Arthur.
Sarah Kynast out touched WPU in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:11.56 while she also took home a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.98. Kynast grabbed her third first place finish of the night in the 500-yard freestyle when she clocked in at 5:40.59.
Julia Housel placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:08.21. D. Bach, B. Arthur and
Maggie Herbert captured the top three spots in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:02.64, 1:05.31 and 1:06.21.
Veronica Drozdzewicz placed first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:32.82) while
Emily Hegarty placed second with a time of 2:34.48.
Meghan Trewhella captured a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.03 while Herbert (56.54) and
Fiona Connell (1:00.94) went 1-2 in the 100-yard freestyle. Sisters J. Housel and
Cara Housel finished back-to-back in the 200-yard freestyle with times of 2:23.24 and 2:26.20 respectively.
The Lady Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, January 30th when they host St. Francis College-Brooklyn at 2pm. Ramapo's senior class will be honored prior to the start of the meet.
