Winter Haven, FL: The Ramapo College softball team dropped a pair of one-run games on their final two games at the Rebel Spring Games. The Roadrunners (7-5) fell 3-2 to Skidmore College and 2-1 to Eastern Connecticut State University.
In game one, Ramapo took a 1-0 lead over Skidmore in the top of the second inning.
Danielle Saporito led off the inning with a single and moved to second on infield ground out. With two outs, Saporito stole third base and raced home when the catcher's throw sailed into left field.
The lead held until the bottom of the fourth inning when Skidmore scored three runs on four hits and aided by one Ramapo error to take a 3-1 lead. The Roadrunners pushed one run across in the top of the seventh to come within one before Skidmore got the final out of the inning with the bases loaded to preserve the win.
Christina Brizek (2-3) earned the loss for the Roadrunners. She struck out two, walked one and scattered seven hits.
Jaclyn Lima, Saporito and
Melissa Moreno each collected two hits in the game while the Roadrunners left eight runners in base.
In game one, Ramapo scored the game's first run in the bottom of the third inning. With two outs,
Mikayla Melendez walked and advanced to third on LaPenta's single to right center. Saporito then laced a single to right field plating Melendez, 1-0.
In the sixth inning, ECSU plated two runs on three hits including a two-RBI double from Rossetti to take a 2-1 lead. The Warriors would make the one run lead hold as they held the Roadrunners in their final two at-bats of the game.
Katrina Buczkowski (4-2) struck out six and walked none for the Roadrunners in the loss while she scattered five hits in the complete game. The Roadrunners left 11 runners on base in the game while Saporito and
Grace Brennan were the lone Roadrunners to collect two hits.
Ramapo returns to action on March 26
th when they travel to Mount Saint Mary College (NY) in a non-conference double header beginning at 3pm.
