Winter Haven, FL: The Ramapo College softball team split a pair of games today at the Rebel Spring Games. The Roadrunners (6-2) defeated Centenary 11-2 in a five-inning game while they fell to Messiah College, 4-3.
In game one, junior starting pitcher
Danielle Isenberg (1-0) fired a four-hitter with one strikeout and only one earned run earning her first win of the season. Ramapo recorded 14 hits in the game, including five extra base hits. The Roadrunners scored one run in the top of the second inning when senior
Jaclyn Lima laced a single up the middle with the bases loaded plating the games first run, 1-0. Freshman
Ally Spellman scored on the hit; she walked earlier in the inning. In the third inning, sophomore
Grace Brennan ripped a two-out three-run home run over the left field fence, extending the Ramapo lead, 5-0.
Centenary (1-4) got on the board in the third inning with two runs to come within three, 2-5 before Ramapo added four more runs in the fourth pulling away, 9-2. Freshman

Kim LaPenta and Saporito each singled to load the bases for junior
Melissa Moreno. Moreno took the first pitch she saw and ripped a double down the left field line, plating two runs before Spellman and senior
Taylor May each singled plating two more runs.
In the fifth inning, Saporito tripled to center field with one out before Moreno then smacked a double to right centerfield allowing Saporito to come around and score. Moreno then came around to score on a Centenary throwing error to take an, 11-2 lead. The Roadrunners held the lead in the bottom of the fifth to take the run-ruled shortened game. D'Amato, Saporito, Moreno, Spellman and May each collected two hits in the game while Moreno and Brennan each recorded three RBI.
In game two, Ramapo took a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Moreno and Spellman each recorded a RBI sac fly. In the top of the third inning Messiah got on the board to cut the lead, 1-2, before Ramapo extended their lead to 3-1 in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs, Saporito stole second and came around to score on Walling's single to center field.
Messiah would tie the game in the fifth inning when Carrie Fix laced a single up the middle to plate two runs, 3-3. Then they took the lead with a lone run in the sixth inning. With two outs and Courtney Allen on second base following a sac bunt, Brooke Pompeo then singled to right field allowing Allen to come around to score for the eventual game winning run.
Ramapo put the game-tying run on base in the 6th and 7th innings but could not push the run across to extend the game as Messiah came away with the 4-3 win. For the Roadrunners, freshman
Katrina Buczkowski suffered her first loss of the season. She struck out three, walked one and scattered seven hits over six innings of work. Freshman
Christina Brizek came on in relief in the top of the seventh allowing only one hit as she faced four Messiah hitters. Lima led the team at the plate with two hits while five other Roadrunners collected one hit apiece.
For Messiah (4-6), Courtney Allen (1-0) earned the win in relief. She struck out one, walked two and only gave up two hits over 3.1 innings of work. Claressa Mees earned her first save of the season; she struck out one and did not surrender a hit in the seventh. Fix started the game in the circle, working 2.2 innings with two strikeouts, two walks and scattered five hits. She also led the team at the plate going 2-4 with three RBI.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow at the Rebel Spring games when they take on Eastern Connecticut State at 10am and SUNY Cortland at 12:15pm.
