Danielle Saporito belted a two-out grand slam in game one and freshman
Katrina Buczkowski fired a four-hit shut out in game two to lead the Roadrunners to wins over St. Norbert (8-2) and Springfield (3-0) respectively. With the two wins the Ramapo College softball team improves to 5-1 overall on the year.
In game one, Ramapo defeated St. Norbert College behind Saporito's grand slam in the top of the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie.In the bottom of the first inning St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead aided by two Ramapo errors. The Roadrunners then took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Senior
Kim LaPenta and Saporito led off the inning with back-to-back singles before LaPenta scored on a St. Norbert error. Junior
Melissa Moreno then ripped a double to plate Saporito to take the lead.
In the fourth inning, St. Norbert (1-2) scored one unearned run to tie the game 2-2 before Ramapo took the lead in the top of the seventh. With two outs, senior

Olivia D'Amato poked slap singles before LaPenta was hit to load the bases. Saporito then smacked the second pitch she saw over the left field fence for her first grand slam of her career and second home run of the season. The grand slam put Ramapo in the lead, 6-2. Moreno singled and freshman

Taylor May beat out an infield single to load the bases for sophomore
Alexandria Rigoli. Rigoli ripped a single up the middle plating two more runs for Ramapo, extending their lead, 8-2.
Freshman starting pitcher
Christina Brizek and the Ramapo defense held the lead in the bottom of the seventh picking up the team's fourth win of the season. Brizek struck out five and scattered four hits improving to 2-1 on the season. D'Amato, LaPenta, Saporito and Moreno each collected two hits in the game while Saporito posted four RBI.
In game two against Springfield College (1-4), Ramapo took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs, Saporito drew a walk before Moreno drove her in with a double down the left field line.
Melanie Walling then ripped a single up the middle plating Moreno with the team's second run of the game.
In the fifth inning, Ramapo added an insurance run when pinch hitter
Mikayla Melendez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded allowing Spellman to touch home plate for a 3-0 lead. Buczkowski (3-0) and the Ramapo defense did not allow Springfield to score in the final two innings. She struck out four, scattered four hits and did not walk a batter in the complete game win. Moreno was the lone Roadrunner to record two hits in the game while Walling, Spellman and
Grace Brennan each collected one hit.
The Roadrunners who now stand at 5-1 overall return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on Centenary College at 10am and Messiah College at 12:15pm.
