Box Score Las Vegas, NV: The Ramapo College men's basketball team opened up the D3hoops.com Classic with a 90-76 win against Skidmore College at the South Point Hotel and Casino. The Roadrunners improve to 7-4 overall while Skidmore now stands at 5-2 on the year.
Ramapo snaps Skidmore's five game win streak while the Thoroughbreds also earned votes in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25 poll.
Thomas Bonacum led the Roadrunners with 23 points, six assists and seven rebounds in the game while
Josh Ford tallied nine rebounds and 15 points.
David Haye added 16 points while
Frank Nock recorded nine points, three rebounds and three assists of his own. Ramapo shot 43% (31-72) from the field, 46% (6-13) from the three-point line and 75% (22-29) from the free throw line. The Ramapo defense forced 19 Skidmore turnovers that resulted in 21 points for the Roadrunners.
For Skidmore, Erik Sanders led the team with 21 points including being 10-13 from the free throw line in the game. Edvinas Rupkus added 12 points while Isaac Carp added ten points of his own. Skidmore shot 42% (21-50) from the field, 35% (7-20) from the three-point line and 73% (27-37) from the free throw line. The Skidmore defense forced 12 Ramapo turnovers that led the Thoroughbreds to score 11 points.
Skidmore led 17-10 in the first half before the Roadrunners went on an 11-0 run which included three made three-pointers to take a 21-11 lead with just under ten minutes to play in the half. Skidmore came back to take a one point lead 24-23 (6:56) before Haye went on an 8-0 run of his own including two made three-pointers to put Ramapo ahead 31-26 with 5:22 on the clock. Ramapo led by 12 with just under two minutes to play in the half before Skidmore went on a 9-2 run to close the half only down five 42-47. The Roadrunners controlled the second half as they game away with a 90-76 victory.
