Glassboro, NJ: The Ramapo College women's swim team fell short to the Profs of Rowan University, 126-135, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference battle on the road. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Maggie Herbert took home 1st place in the 200-yard freestyle when she touched the poolside in 2:00.65 for nine points for the team.
Danielle Bach also took 1st. She clocked in at 1:02.41 in the 100-yard backstroke, while Herbert earned 1st again in the 50-yard freestyle sprint, clocking in at 24.52 seconds. Herbert placed 1st in the 100-yard freestyle in 53.76 seconds for another nine points while
Brenda Arthur took home a 1st place ribbon of her own in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.78.
The Roadrunners combined efforts in the 400-yard medley relay race to take 2nd place in a combined time of 4:12.97. Bach,
Samantha Chan, Arthur and Herbert joined forces in the event.
Veronica Drozdzewicz placed 2nd in the 1,000-yard freestyle. She clocked in at 11:56.03, while
Ana Nunez finished in 3rd place in a time of 12:14.17. Chan took 2nd place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:13.28 and Arthur took 2nd place in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:26.85. In the 200-yard backstroke,
Julia Housel clocked in at 2:19.46 for 2nd place while Drozdzewicz placed 2nd in the 500-yard freestyle touching the poolside in 5:43.83. Arthur and Chan came in back-to-back in the 200-yard IM. Arthur took 2nd place in 2:21.27 and Chan placed 3rd in 2:24.07.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team, made up of
Caitlyn Bach, Megan Trewhella, Bach, D., and
Sarah Stacey placed 2nd overall in a time of 1:43.26 for four points, while
Maria Luisi,
Fiona Connell, Housel, and Stacey combined efforts to place 3rd in the same event in 1:47.63.
Ramapo returns to action next weekend when they travel to the Franklin and Marshall Invite.
