Mahwah, NJ: The Lady Roadrunner swim team defeated the Profs of Rowan University for the first time since the program returned to Ramapo in 2007. The Roadrunners posted a 164-98 victory today in the New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Adele and Reuben Thomas Swimming Pool. With the victory the Roadrunners improve to 6-2 overall on the year, 2-1 in the conference. Rowan falls to 7-4, 1-3 NJAC.
Ramapo's 400-yard medley relay team, made up of
Danielle Bach,
Brenda Arthur,
Lauren Keller, and
Caitlyn Bach, earned 1st place and 11 points for the Roadrunners as they touched the poolside in a combined time of 3:41.55. Ramapo also took 2nd place in the event as
Julia Housel, Allie Van Glahn,
Jamie Stein, and
Meghan Trewhella combined efforts swimming in a combined 4:15.19 for four additional points for the Roadrunners.
Keller and
Maggie Herbert went 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle race. Keller finished the race in 1:58.32, while Herbert touched the poolside in 2:00.14. Housel placed 1st in the 100-yard backstroke and Bach took 3rd in the event combining for 12 points for Ramapo. Housel finished the race in 1:03.38 and Bach clocked in at 1:04.26.
Megan Fosko placed 1st in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:11.80 and Arthur and Van Glahn went 2-3 in the same event in 1:11.97 and 1:12.61. The 200-yard butterfly went to Stein in 2:22.92 for nine points and a 1st place ribbon, while Keller placed 1st in the 50-yard freestyle sprint in 24.63 seconds. Herbert placed 2nd in the event in 25.02 seconds.
Keller also took a 1st place ribbon in the 100-yard freestyle, while Herbert came in 2nd. The two combined for 13 points in 54.50 and 55.23 seconds respectively. Housel also won the 200-yard backstroke finishing the event in 2:16.87 for nine points. Fosko and Van Glahn combined efforts in the 200-yard breaststroke for 13 points. Fosko placed 1st in 2:34.63 and Van Glahn placed 2nd in 2:39.84.
Arthur and Stein went 1-2 in the 100-yard butterfly. Arthur placed 1st in 1:02.40 for nine points and Stein clocked in at 1:04.46 for four points and 2nd place overall.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, February 3rd when they travel to NJAC rival William Paterson for a 6pm match-up.
