Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's swimming team posted a 135-127 victory over the Red Hawks of Montclair State University today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Adele and Reuben Thomas Swimming Pool. The win marks the first victory over MSU since the sport of swimming returned to Ramapo back during the 2007-2008 season.
Senior
Lauren Keller led the Roadrunners earning a 1st place ribbon in the 100-yard butterfly. She touched the poolside in 58.63 seconds for nine points, breaking the school record in the event.
The 200-yard medley relay team, made up of
Danielle Bach, Allie Van Glahn,
Brenda Arthur, and
Meghan Trewhella opened the meet with a 1st place finish touching the poolside in 1:55.72 for 11 points. Ramapo came in 2nd in the same event for an additional four points in 1:58.42. The 2nd place team was made up of
Julia Housel,
Megan Fosko,
Jamie Stein, and
Caitlyn Bach.
Maggie Herbert placed 1st in the 200-yard freestyle clocking in at 2:01.32, while Housel won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.65. D. Bach placed 2nd in the same event for four points for the Roadrunners clocking in at 1:03.79.
Herbet and Keller went 1-2 in the 50-yard freestyle sprint. Herbert placed 1st in 24.85 seconds while Keller placed 2nd in 24.98 seconds. Herbet earned a 1st place ribbon in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.96 seconds and Keller came in 2nd in 55.32 seconds, while C. Bach placed 3rd overall in 57.28 seconds.
Brenda Arthur placed 2nd in the 100-yard butterfly clocking in at 1:02.59 for an additional four points for Ramapo.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team, made up of Herbert,
Meghan Trewhella, C. Bach, and Keller, won the race in 3:44.70 for 11 points, rounding out the top performers of the day for the Roadrunners.
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, January 27th when they travel to NJAC rival William Paterson for a 6pm match-up.
