Box Score 3 Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team went 2-0 today as they defeated Ithaca College, 3-1 (27-29, 25-9, 25-20, 25-18), before downing St. Joseph's LI, 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-23). With the two victories on day two of the Roadrunner Invitational, Ramapo advances to 9-3 overall.
Rookie
Larysa Iwaskiw led the Roadrunners with 24 kills hitting .377, while
Rachel Selmore had 11 kills of her own and
Cathryn Smart chipped in with ten. The team went 65-170 with 21 errors hitting .259 in the match.
Emily Harris led the team's defense with 25 digs, followed by Iwaskiw with 24 of her own.
Kaitlin Mac Iver led the team with 58 assists.
Ithaca's Dylan Gawinski Stern tallied 11 kills and 14 digs. Joelle Goldstein added ten kills while Carly Garone tallied 22 assists. Kayla Gromen recorded a team leading 27 digs in the match.
In match two, Ithaca defeated St. Joseph's LI, 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 25-19). Goldstein led the team with 11 kills as she hit .231 in the match. Marlee Wierda recorded a team high of 13 digs, while Gromen added 12 of her own and Gawinski Stern and Hannah Robison both chipped in with 11. Gromen dished out 18 asssits.
St. Joseph's LI was led by Tiffany Willms with seven kills and seven digs. Courtney Wickline tallied 21 digs while Julianne Tierney recorded 19 assists.
In match three, Ramapo was led again by Iwaskiw, who recorded 17 kills, 15 digs, and five aces.
Emily Guzman posted nine kills as she hit .333 in the match. She recorded two blocks. Selmore added eight kills while Harris led the team with 17 digs. Mac Iver dished out 24 assists, 11 digs, and one ace, and Nicole Herrman dished out ten assists of her own. The team went 40-120 with 18 errors hitting .183 in the match.
Willms led St. Joseph's LI with seven kills and ten digs. Manuela Palacio recorded six kills while Tierney tallied 22 assists and 17 digs. Wickline recorded 16 digs of her own.
Ramapo returns to action September 20th when they travel to Fairleigh Dickinson – College at Florham for an 11am non-conference match-up.
