MONTCLAIR STATE TOPS RAMAPO IN MEN'S BASKETBALL ACTION, 74-61

Box Score Montclair, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to NJAC rival Montclair State University tonight, 74-61, at Panzer Athletic Center. The Roadrunners now stand at 9-12 overall, 6-8 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks improve to 9-11 overall, 6-8 in the conference.

Terry Hicks led the Roadrunners with 23 points while Elvonney Poole posted a double-double, 13 points and 11 rebounds. Frank Nock added 16 points as he went 10-10 from the free throw line. George Sapp added seven points of his own and three assists. Ramapo shot 32% (20-61) from the field and 93% (15-16) from the free throw line.

Daniel Singleton scored 23 points for the Red Hawks while Ordel Goldson tallied a double-double, 14 points and 14 rebounds. James D'Angelo added 16 points while Angel Gonzalez tallied nine points of his own. Montclair State shot 35% (25-70) from the field and 74% (20-27) from the free throw line. The Red Hawk defense forced 14 Roadrunner turnovers in the game while they recorded just six of their own.

Ramapo led by six at the start of the first half, 11-5, as Poole connected on a pass from Nock with 15:09 on the clock. MSU would go on a 10-0 run to take a two point lead, 15-13, on two free throws from Singleton (10:28). MSU would extend their lead to five, 20-15, before Ramapo cut the lead to two, 18-20, on a made three from Hicks (7:25). Ramapo would cut the lead to one, 24-25, with just 2:53 to play in the half before the Red Hawks' Goldson slammed down a dunk with 1:40 on the clock, 27-24. The Roadrunners made the final basket in the half, a free throw from Poole, as MSU would head into the locker room up two, 27-25.

In the second half, the game would be tied for the fifth time of the game, on a made three from Hicks, 37-37, (15:43). MSU would then go on a mini 7-0 run to take a, 44-37, lead with 13:14 on the clock. After a made basket from Hicks, cutting the lead to three, 41-44 (12:28), the Red Hawks would extend their lead to ten, 51-41, on a run capped off with a basket from D'Angelo (10:58). Hicks sank a three point shot (7:38) to bring the Roadrunners within five, 50-55, before MSU out scored Ramapo, 10-2, to take a 13 point lead, 65-52, (4:34). Hicks and Joshua Daniell combined for a mini 5-0 run, cutting the lead to eight, 59-67, with just 2:34 left in the game. MSU ended the game on a 7-2 run, pulling away for the 74-61 victory.

The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to Rowan University on Saturday for an 8pm NJAC conference game.
