Box Score 3 Mahwah, NJ: The Roadrunners recorded a 3-0 sweep over the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College today, before dropping a tough, 2-3 (29-27, 20-25, 20-25, 25-23, 11-15) to #10 ranked Elmira College. Going 1-1 on the day, the Roadrunners now stand at 6-3 overall.
The Roadrunners swept the Brooklyn Bulldogs (25-17, 29-27, 25-19) in their opening match of the day, as they hit a combined .300, behind eight kills from rookie
Evan Carey. Senior
Tyler DeBoer collected seven kills in the win, while
Mike Kane contributed four to the match. Senior setter
Andrew Balint set the first set, collecting eight assists, while rookie
Alec Weissman took over duties in sets two and three, assisting on 19 total points. Weissman led the defense with five digs and Carey, DeBoer, and defensive specialist

Chris Sidnam recorded two blocks at the net. Ramapo collected a total of 39 kills as a team, coming on 80 attempts with just 15 errors.
David Dimitruk and Mihail Osipov led the Bulldogs with seven and six kills respectively, as the team went 24-84 with 20 errors, hitting .048 in the loss. Timothy Hui dished out 18 assists and Osipov picked up a team leading seven digs.
In the second match of the day, Elmira, ranked #10 in the nation, defeated Brooklyn College, 3-1 (25-13, 19-25, 25-14, 25-16) to improve to 8-4 overall. With their second loss of the day, Brooklyn falls to 6-7 on the year. Dylan Kuhn led the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College collecting ten kills on 12 attempts with no errors. He hit .833 in the win, while Tyler Smith hit a perfect 2-2 with no errors for a team leading 1.000. Michael Vellutato dished out 22 assists and Evan Clarke led the defense with eight digs. Kuhn and Vellutato each put away three blocks in the win. The Soaring Eagles combined hitting .216 with 39 kills on 102 attempts with 17 errors. Brooklyn was led by Antony Koyfman who collected eight kills, while the team hit a combined -.011, with 26 kills on 95 attempts and 27 errors. Hui assisted on 21 points and led the defense with 11 digs. Ricky Myint also picked up 11 digs in the loss.
The final match-up of the day went to Elmira as they improve to 9-4 overall with the two wins. Elmira defeated Ramapo in five sets, after the Roadrunners took games one and four, to earn their ninth win of the year. Erik Griffin led the Soaring Eagles with 20 kills and Mike Ellison and Ryan Gelenitis each collected 14 in the win. The team hit a combined 63-170 with 28 errors hitting .206. Vellutato dished out a team high 55 assists and Ellison led the defense with 16 digs. Gelenitis and Rob Shade each picked up ten digs of their own. For Ramapo, rookie
Ahjon Petty led the team collecting 17 kills on 43 attempts. He hit .140 with 11 errors. Senior
Nick Hrehovcik recorded 11 kills and Sidnam added eight in the loss. Balint contributed a team high 41 assists and MacDonald picked up 26 digs. Sidnam blocked five total times and Kane and Brian Collabella collected four and three blocks respectively. Ramapo went 54-153 with 31 errors hitting .150.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they travel to New Jersey City University to take on the Gothic Knights, and NYU-Polytechnic at 10:00am and noon respectively.
