STOCKTON BATTLES BACK TO DEFEAT RAMAPO, 70-69

Box Score Galloway, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to NJAC rival Richard Stockton College, 70-69. The Ospreys improve to 20-4 overall, 14-3 in the NJAC, while the Roadrunners now stand at 9-15 overall, 6-11 in the conference.

Jermaine Emanuel put the Roadrunners in the lead, 18-15, with 10:27 on the clock in the first half before Ramapo would extend their lead to ten, 28-18 (6:14), on a made free throw from George Sapp. The Ospreys then cut the lead to four with an 8-2 run, 26-30. The run was capped off with a three from James Williams with 3:17 to play in the half. Ramapo would stretch their lead back to nine, 37-28, on a layup from Tyler Barnes (1:44) before Stockton went on an 8-0 run to close the half only down one, 36-37.

In the second half, Stockton went up one, 40-39 (17:25), on two made free throws from Kevin Johnson. The Ospreys would score a basket to tie the game at 51 all, the ninth tie of the game, before Ramapo went on a mini 7-1 run, to take a 58-52 lead with 8:44 on the clock on a three pointer from Frank Nock. Stockton would take a one point lead, 66-65, on a jumper from Rameel Johnson before Ramapo took the lead back with a basket from Sapp with 2:34 left to play. Ramapo went up three, 69-67 (2:06), before Stockton would tie the game at 69, on made free throws from K. Johnson with 1:33 on the clock. K. Johnson would head to the line with nine seconds left, as he put the Ospreys in the lead, 70-69, as he made the front end of a two-shot foul. A last second shot by the Roadrunners would come up short and Stockton came away with the one point victory.

Hicks led the team with 17 points, as he was perfect from the charity stripe (10-10), while Emanuel scored 16 of his own. Nock went 3-3 from beyond the arc as he scored 15 points and Sapp added 11 points and three assists. Elvonney Poole led the team with 12 rebounds while he scored six points. Ramapo scored 44% (24-54) from the field, 33% (6-18) from beyond the three-point line and 88% (15-17) from the free throw line.

For Stockton, Johnson led the team with 21 points, he also collected eight rebounds and a team high six assists. R. Johnson scored 13 points while James Williams tallied 12 points of his own. The Ospreys scored 19 points off of 18 Ramapo turnovers in the game. Stockton shot 42% (25-59) from the field, 27% (5-18) from beyond the three-point line and 62% (15-24) from the free throw line.

Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, February 19th, when they take on rival William Paterson University at 7:30pm. Ramapo will honor their senior class in a ceremony prior to the game.
