Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark University, 88-77, tonight at the Bradley Center. The Scarlet Raiders improve to 17-6 overall, 13-3 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 9-14 overall, 6-10 in the conference.
Four Roadrunners scored in double figures for the Roadrunners as
Frank Nock led the team with 22 points and six rebounds.
Terry Hicks tallied 15 points while
Jermaine Emanuel scored 14 points.
George Sapp posted ten points and led the team with six rebounds and three steals.
Joshua Daniell grabbed a team high eight rebounds, while adding five points.
Chris Foreman led the Scarlet Raiders with 23 points, including six three-pointers. John Snow grabbed a team high eight rebounds while he added 19 points. Christian Garcia scored 14 points and Doze Ikwuegbu added 11 points of his own, including three from beyond the arc.
The first half saw the Roadrunners up by three, 8-5, on a tip-in from Emanuel with 16:08 on the clock. The Scarlet Raiders would then go on a 10-0 run, which propelled the team to a seven-point advantage, 15-8, with 12:58 to play. Emanuel would nail a three-pointer for Ramapo on the next trip down the court, to come within four, 11-15, before Rutgers-Newark opened up a 15 point lead, 30-15, just under nine minutes to play in the half.
Elvonney Poole hit a jumper off a pass from Pat O'Connell, which started a 10-3 run, capped off with a jumper from Nock, 25-33 (4:17). The Roadrunners would cut the lead to four, 32-36, heading into the locker room as they scored the final points of the half.
Rutgers-Newark scored the first seven points of the second half, jumping out to a 43-34 lead with 18 minutes on the clock. The Scarlet Raiders controlled much of the second half, taking their largest lead of the game, a three pointer from Foreman, 74-53, with just under seven minutes to play. Ramapo would cut the lead to nine, 68-77, on a jumper from Sapp with just over two minutes left in the game. Nine of the Scarlet Raiders final 11 points in the game were made free throws, as they pulled away for an 11 point victory, 88-77.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Saturday, February 15th, when they travel to NJAC rival Richard Stockton College for a 3pm game.
