Box Score 2 Poughkeepsie, NY: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team posted two strong wins today over Elms College and Vassar College on the road. With the two non-conference victories, the Roadrunners improve to 4-2 overall.
The Roadrunners combined efforts in their first match-up with Elms College (2-5), to earn a 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-21) sweep behind rookie
Ahjon Petty. Petty collected 16 kills on 23 attempts with just three errors, hitting .565 in the win. Senior
Chris Sidnam picked up nine kills hitting a team leading .615, with one error on 13 attempts, while senior
Nick Hrehovcik and
Mike Kane each added five kills of their own. The team hit .268 collecting 42 kills on 97 attempts with 16 errors.
Andrew Balint assisted on 33 points and rookie
Kurt MacDonald led the team's defense with nine digs. Elms' Bryson Rainey led the offensive game with 13 kills, while Kevin Welsh dished out 21 assists in the loss. Elms hit .106 totaling 27 kills on 85 attempts with 18 errors.
Petty led the Roadrunners to a second win on the day when he hit down a team leading 17 kills in the team's 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 29-27, 25-17) victory over Vassar (1-3). Sidnam added 12 kills to the win and Kane picked up ten of his own, while Balint dished out 46 assists on the night. Ramapo went 55-134 as a team with 18 errors, hitting .276. MacDonald once again led the team's defense with 16 digs and Brian Collabella picked up 11, while Kane recorded ten total blocks. Petty collected six blocks and Hrehovcik and Sidnam added five each, while Balint picked up ten digs in the win. Vassar was led by Reno Kriz who put away 22 kills. The team hit .162 with 51 kills on 142 attempts with 28 errors. Colin White-Dzur dished out 41 assists in the loss.
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, February 5th when they travel to Hunter College for a 6pm match-up.
