Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's swimming team opened the 2014-2015 New Jersey Athletic Conference season today dropping a tough, 110-152 decision to the Lions of the College of New Jersey. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 1-1 overall on the year, 0-1 in the conference. The College of New Jersey opens their season at 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Rookie
Margaret Herbert led the Roadrunners today, grabbing three individuals wins and a relay win. Herbert first helped the 200-yard medley relay team to victory, as she swam the backstroke leg. The team combined efforts touchng the pool side in 1:54.97. Herbert's medley relay win came at a combined effort from teammates
Brenda Arthur,
Lauren Keller, and
Caitlyn Bach.
Herbert collected nine additional points for the Roadrunners winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.51, before winning the 50-yard freestyle in 25.07 seconds. Herbert also collected a win in the 100-yard freestyle in 55.34 seconds.
Kylie Suydam won the 1,000-yard freestyle finishing the race in 11:51.57, while
Julia Housel placed 2nd overall in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.17. Arthur clocked in at 1:13.27 for 2nd place in the 100-yard breaststroke and Jamie Ann Stein won the 200-yard butterfly race in 2:27.19 for nine points.
Victoria Schon came in 2nd in the same race in 2:34.80.
Arthur placed 2nd in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.87 and Stein placed 3rd in 1:04.52, wrapping up the top performers on the day for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, November 1st when they host CSI at 2pm at the Bradley Center.
