TCNJ DEFEATS RAMAPO IN NJAC ACTION

Box Score Ewing, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to The College of New Jersey, 69-84 in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.  With the loss, the Roadrunners fall to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while the Lions record their third straight win to improve to 4-6 overall, and 2-3 in the conference.

Four players finished with double digit figures for Ramapo but it wasn't enough as TCNJ dominated rebounding (43-20) in the game, and nailed down free throws (29-34), to secure their first home win of the season. 

Sophomore Frank Nock led the Roadrunners with 14 points and four steals, while Terry Hicks finished with 11 points and four assists.  Juniors George Sapp and Loren Jackson each added ten points in the loss.  For the Lions, Sophomore Bobby Brackett led the offense posting a game-high 23 points.  He collected 19 boards in the win. Joe Kane scored a career-high 15 points shooting 5-8 from the floor, while junior Skyelar Ettin finished with 14 points.

Ramapo led for most of the first half of play, but TCNJ kept within six points.  With 1:50 to go, Kane knocked down a three-pointer to give the Lions their first lead, 29-28, since the opening minute of the game. Jackson answered right back to jump ahead, 30-29, but a two-point goal from Brackett and a pair of free throws from Kane, gave TCNJ a 33-32 advantage heading into the locker room. Jackson led the Roadrunners with eight points in the opening period and Hicks collected four steals.  The Roadrunners shot a combined 12-27 (44%), while the Lions put away 12-30 (40%) as a team.

Eric Klacik drained a three-point shot to open the second half for the Lions and they never looked back as they outscored the Roadrunners 18-11 over the first seven minutes to stretch the lead to 51-43.  The Lions went on to outscore Ramapo 51-37 in the second half for a season high 85 points in a game.  TCNJ shot 13-24 (54%) as a team and Ramapo sank 14-26 (53%), as Nock and Sapp led Ramapo with eight points each.  Free throws were key in the win where TCNJ netted 23-27 (85%) in the final half.
