ROADRUNNERS GO 1-1 ON DAY TWO

Box Score 1 Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-21) sweep over Brooklyn College in their opening match of day two of the 2014 Roadrunner Invitational, before dropping a tough 0-3 (21-25, 22-25, 22-25) decision to the #4 ranked Hawks of New Paltz.  After the 1-1 day, the Roadrunners stand at 2-2 overall.

In match one, rookie Ryan Casci led the offensive game collecting nine kills on 19 attempts with two errors.  He boasted a .368 hitting percentage as the team went 29-59 with seven errors, hitting .373. Rookie Evan Carey chipped in seven kills and fellow rookie Alec Weissman dished out a team high 19 assists.  Peter Desvousges led the team's defense with six digs. For Brooklyn, Antony Koyfman led the team with eight kills and David Dimitruk added seven, while the team combined for 21, hitting .000 with 21 kills on 64 attempts and 21 errors.  Timothy Hui dished out 15 assists and led the defense with six digs. 

Rookie Ahjon Petty led Ramapo in their second match-up of the day with 17 kills and two service aces.  He hit .412 with only three errors on his 34 attempts.  Chris Sidnam collected eight kills while the team combined hitting .321 with 34 kills on 78 attempts and nine errors.  Senior setter Andrew Balint dished out 27 assists in the loss and Kurt MacDonald led the defense with seven digs.  Tim Ferriter led New Paltz with 14 kills and Steven Woessner added eight as the Hawks combined for a .386 hitting performance.  The Hawks collected 47 kills on 83 attempts with 15 errors.  Christian Smith dished out 23 assists and John Lutjen added 21 while Victor Tuminelli led the defense with 11 digs. 

Other matches of the day:
Stevenson defeated CCNY 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-10) behind six kills from Wesley Richardson. The team went 38-79 with 12 errors hitting .329. Nicholas Gross and Jon Martin each collected five kills while Robert Wingert dished out a team high 21 assists. Richardson, Adam Thatcher, Scott Morantz and Patrick Schuyler each collected four digs in the win. Nicholas Siriban led CCNY with five kills and Derell Williams added four, while Anthony Reyes dished out nine assists in the loss. David Avezov led the team with six digs. 

Brooklyn went on to defeat CCNY 3-0 (25-12, 25, 20, 25-21) behind 14 kills from Koyfman and nine from Dimitruk. The team combined hitting .244 with 38 total kills on 86 attempts and 17 errors. Hoping Ki dished out 31 assists and Hui led the team's defense with 11digs. Williams took control of the offense for CCNY posting six kills on. 17 attempts. The team went 14-71 with 20 errors hitting -.085. Kia Zuen Liu Liu dished out five assists and Reyes led the defense with eight digs.

#4 New Paltz defeated #11 Stevenson, 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-15) after hitting .309 as a team. The Hawks combined for 43 kills on 97 attempts and were led by Ferriter who collected 16 in the win. C. Smith and Lutjen shared setting duties recording 20 and 18 respectively. B. Smith led the defense with ten digs. For Stevenson, Martino once again led the offense with eight kills as the team went 22-86 with 13 errors hitting .105 in the loss. Moler contributed with 18 assists and Thatcher led the defense with ten digs. Kyle Pottieger picked up four blocks on the day.
