Box Score Jersey City, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to NJAC rival New Jersey City University tonight on the road, 61-60. The Roadrunners fall to 7-10 overall and 4-6 in the NJAC while the Gothic Knights improve to 9-7 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
In the last five minutes of the game, the lead changed four times as NJCU held on for a one point victory. The game was tied at 55 with 3:47 left to play on two made free throws from
Jermaine Emanuel before NJCU went up two in their next possession with a layup from Walik Albright, 57-55. Emanuel would put the Roadrunners in the lead with a three pointer (3:03) and later a front end of a two shot foul (:43) as Ramapo took a two point lead, 59-57. NJCU would call a time out with 38 seconds remaining before Jamall McDaniel drained a three with 15 seconds left on the clock, 60-59. Following a Ramapo time out and a missed three from the Roadrunners; NJCU would connect on one of two foul shots for a two point lead with two seconds on the clock. After Ramapo's final timeout of the game, NJCU would foul Emanuel sending him to the line to potentially tie the game. He would make the first and narrowly miss the second as NJCU slipped past the Roadrunners with a one point victory.
For the Roadrunners, Emanuel led the team with 19 points and three assists while
Terry Hicks scored 17 points with four steals and three assists and
Frank Nock added 14 points of his own. Ramapo shot 43% (20-46) from the floor in the game, 33% (4-12) from beyond the three point line and 72% (16-22) from the free throw line.
For NJCU, Khalid Muhammad led the team with 17 points and six rebounds while Fenton tallied 16 points as both players tallied three three-pointers a piece. NJCU scored 38% (23-60) from the floor and 36% (7-19) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday when they travel to conference rival Rutgers-Camden University for a 3pm game.
