RAMAPO FALLS TO KEAN, 3-2

Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team fell just short to Skyline rival Kean University tonight, 3-2 (25-23, 22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 13-15), at the Bradley Center. The Cougars improve to 19-8 overall, 10-1 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 18-8 overall, 10-2 in the Skyline.

In game one, Kean led 9-7, before Ramapo's Chris Sidnam put down a kill and Ramapo got a point off a Kean service error to come with in one, 9-10. Kean added two more points to lead 12-9 before Ramapo went on a 5-0 run to take a 13-12 lead on a kill from Sidnam. Kean would then score three points of their own before Ramapo once again tied the game at 15 with an attack error from the Cougars. Tommy Rosario would put down a kill for the Cougars that started a 4-0 run to take a 19-15 lead. The Roadrunners scored four straight points of their own, capped off by a service ace from Nick Hrehovcik to tie the game at 19. With the score tied at 21, Ramapo recorded a block from Peter Desvousges and Sidnam to go up 22-21. Vahalla tallied back to back kills for Kean to tie the game at 23 before a Kean error and kill from Hrehovcik won the game for the Roadrunners, 25-23.

In game two, Ramapo fell 22-25. Kean led by as many as six before falling just short at the end of the game. A kill from Hrehovcik and a Kean attack error, brought the Roadrunners with in three,  22-24. A kill from Vahalla sealed the win in game two for the Cougars, 25-22. In game three, Kean jumped out so a 6-2 lead before Ramapo came back to tack a 8-7 lead off a service ace from Sidnam. Back to back kills from Mike Kane and Sidnam put the Roadrunners up 14-12 before Kean came back to tie the game at 14 with a block from Rosario and Vahalla. Desvousges put down a kill before Kean scored two points of their own to take at 16-15 lead. A Kean service error from Kean tied the game at 16 before Ramapo scored two straight points to take a 18-16 lead with a solo block from Sidnam. Ramapo led 21-18 before Kean scored two straight points to come within one, 21-20. The two teams traded service errors before Kean pulled away with four straight points for the 25-22 victory.

In game four, Kean led 10-7 before Ramapo got back to back kills from Desvousges and Sidnam to come within one, 10-9. Back to back kills from Kane and Desvousges put Ramapo in the lead 17-16 before Kean tied the game on the next point. Ramapo scored the next two ponts, 19-17, as Kane recorded a service ace. Ramapo was up one, 21-20, before back to back attack errors from Kean put the Roadrunners in the lead, 23-20.  Hrehovcik put down the final two kills for Ramapo for the 25-22 win. In game five, a block from Hrehovcik and Sidnam brought the Roadrunners within one, 3-4 before they were able to tie the game at six on a kill from Desvousges. Kean rallied off the next two points to take an 8-6 lead. Ramapo came within one, 8-9, on a kill from Hrehovcik before Kean once again scored the next two points, 12-9, off a kill from Vahalla. Ramapo tied the game at 13-13, once again off a kill from Hrehovcik, before back to back Kean kills sealed the win for the Cougars, 15-13.

Steve Vahalla led the Cougars in the win with 24 kills on 56 attempts with only seven errors, hitting .304 for the match. He also tallied ten digs and three total blocks. John Cunningham hit .324 in the match as he put down 14 kills while adding nine digs and two blocks. Alex Barnhard dished out a team high 29 assists while Michael Fox led the team with 11 digs.

For the Roadrunners, Hrehovcik led the team with 17 kills, eight digs and two blocks while Sidnam added 13 kills on 31 attempts and only one error as he hit, .387. Andrew Balint and Desvousges each posted 11 kills of their own. Harsh Prajapati dished out 48 assists in the match while Aaron Kerschner contributed with 13 digs.

The Roadrunners will travel to Purchase College this Saturday as they take on Sage College and NYU-Poly at 10am and noon respectively.
