RAMAPO FALLS TO ROWAN IN WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team dropped a tough match-up today to the Profs of Rowan University, 19-9.  With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  Rowan earns their first conference win of the season improving to 5-3 overall.

The Profs jumped out to an early start scoring just 33 seconds into the game when sophomore attack Becca Wood ripped a ball past Ramapo's Reagan Vier to go ahead, 1-0.  Jamie Blondina scored her first goal of the game at 1:25 on a free position shot to put the Profs up, 2-0, before Vicky Sucharski hit the back of the net just 21 seconds later to put Rowan ahead three goals to none.  Marissa Micciche gave Rowan a four goal advantage and Blondina put the Profs up, 5-0 at 14:28, forcing a Ramapo timeout. 

The Roadrunners finally got on the board at 15:41 when rookie Lindsay Hughes scored her 27th goal of the season, but Rowan quickly responded at 17:28 with a goal from Brittany Bollendorf.  Micciche and Sucharski put the Profs ahead, 8-1, before Amanda Ferry closed the gap for Ramapo posting a goal of her own with just under seven minutes to play in the half.  Just 11 seconds later, Hughes grabbed the draw control and dished the ball off to Lauren Schmidt, who capitalized on her shot putting Ramapo within six, 3-9.  The Profs would connect three straight goals to go ahead, 12-3 before Hughes closed out the half with two straight goals heading into halftime 5-12 behind the Profs.

Rowan out shot Ramapo, 31-9 in the first half of play while Vier grabbed 11 saves for Ramapo, and Lindsay Barrie recorded one for Rowan.

In the second half Rowan came out strong, scoring two goals in the first three minutes, both from Wood to take a 14-5 lead. Ramapo came back and scored two goals of their own, one by Teresa Gustafson and one from Hughes to come within seven (14-7). The Profs would tack on five more goals in the half while the Roadrunners only managed to hit the back of the net two more times as Rowan came away with their first conference win of the season, 19-9.

Rowan outshot Ramapo, 51-15 in the game. Barrie saw action in the net the first 39:45 of the game for the win while she posted one save. Mary Narozanick worked the final 20:15 posting two saves for the Profs.

Vier finished with 20 saves for Ramapo while Hughes finished with five goals and one assist.

Ramapo returns to action when they host Skyline rival Old Westbury on Tuesday, April 2nd at 4:00pm.
