HREHOVCIK LEADS RAMAPO PAST NYU-POLY

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  Junior Nick Hrehovcik led the Ramapo College men's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-9, 25-12) over the Fighting Blue Jays of NYU-Polytechnic tonight at the Bradley Center.  With the victory, the Roadrunners improve to 15-5 overall and 10-1 in the Skyline Conference.  NYU-Poly falls to 9-12 overall and 5-5 in the conference.

Hrehovcik finished the night leading all Roadrunners with eight kills on11 attempts with no errors, hitting .727.  Chris Sidnam put away seven kills and Mike Kane added six, as the team combined for 31 kills on 54 attempts with only six errors.  Ramapo hit .463 on the night.  Harsh Prajapati dished out a team high 26 assists and Hrehovcik led the defense with six digs.  Sidnam and Andrew Balint each collected five serving aces in the win.

In the opening set, RCNJ landed a .250 hitting percentage and led 14-3 after an ace from Balint. NYU-Poly closed the gap to ten points, 14-24, but it was Hrehovcik who put away the final kill, earning the set one win, 25-14.  Sidnam put away five kills in game one and Prajapati delivered eight assists.

In the second set, NYU-Poly opened the game tied 2-2, but it was back-to-back bad sets from the Fighting Blue Jays that sparked a 7-0 Ramapo run.  The run was capped off with an ace from Sidnam, to take a 9-2 lead.  The Roadrunners never looked back hitting .667 in the game two win, 25-9.  Hrehovcik and Kane each collected three kills and Prajapati added nine assists in the win.

Hrehovcik had three of RCNJ's 11 kills in the third set as Ramapo hit a combined 11-19 (.526) in the set three, 25-12 win. With a one-point gap and Ramapo leading, 5-4, the Roadrunners went down a 4-0 run, followed by a 5-0 run, to jump ahead, 14-5.  The Roadrunners would continue to string together runs to close out the match with the 13-point set three win.  Prajapati added an additional nine assists and Hrehovcik picked up four digs.

The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, March 22nd and Saturday, March 23rd when they travel to the Purple & Gold Invitational in Rochester, NY.  Ramapo will face D'Youville and Wells on Friday evening at 6&8pm respectively.
