Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team, behind 14 kills from Bran Colabella, earned a 3-1 non-conference victory over the Chargers of Lancaster Bible today at the Bradley Center. With the win, Ramapo improves to 7-4 overall. Lancaster Bible falls to 5-5.
Colabella hit .400 and
Mike Kane hit a team high .750 with 12 kills and no errors on 16 attempts, while
Harsh Prajapati assisted on 32 points.
Chris Sidnam chipped in 12 kills of his own.
Aaron Kerschner led the team's defense with eight digs and Colabella added six in the win. The Roadrunners hit .305 as a team with 52 kills on 105 attempts with 20 errors.
Behind five kills each from Sidnam and Kane, the Roadrunners earned a game one, 25-17 victory hitting a combined 16-26 (.423). The two teams opened the game going point for point until two hitting errors by Lancaster put the Roadrunners up 6-4. Ramapo continued to spread their lead working to a 13-7 advantage off a kill from Sidnam, forcing a Charger time out. Ramapo closed out the game with an ace by Prajapati, taking a one game edge over the Chargers. Prajapati dished out 12 assists and rookie
Peter Desvousges and Kerschner both led the team's defense with six digs a piece. The Chargers hit a combined .056 in the loss with six kills on 18 attempts and five errors.
In game two, Ramapo fell behind, 7-12, before Sidnam sparked a 4-0 run with a kill, coming out of a time out, to tie the game at 12-12. The Roadrunners worked their way to a 20-16 advantage forcing a Charger time out. Colabella served three straight points to take a 23-16 lead and Ramapo closed out the game with a kill from Prajapati to earn the 25-19 set win. Colabella led the Roadrunners with five kills and Prajapati assisted on eight points, while Prajapati and Colabella each recorded two digs. Ramapo hit .280 with 12 kills on 25 attempts and five errors. The Chargers went 10-25 with nine errors as a team, hitting .040 in the loss.
After an 11-11 tie, the Lancaster Bible Chargers pushed ahead with two straight Ramapo errors, to take a 16-13 lead. The Chargers held an advantage over the Roadrunners the rest of the way earning a 25-21 set three win, to close the gap, 1-2. Miles Herron led the Chargers with three kills and Alex Bahn dished out six assists, while Andy Nguyen led the defense with three digs. The team hit a combined 11-22 with four errors hitting .318. Ramapo went 11-25 with six errors hitting .200 behind four kills from Sidnam.
Game four went back-and-forth until the Roadrunners pushed ahead after a 17-17 tie with three straight points to jump ahead 20-17. Prajapati served three straight points forcing a Charger time out. The Roadrunners out scored Lancaster Bible, 5-4 down the stretch to earn the game four, 25-21 win. Colabella collected six kills to lead the Roadrunners who combined for 13 kills on 29 attempts with four errors hitting .310. The Chargers hit .103 in the game four loss.
On the day, Joey Brennan and Herron led the Chargers with nine kills each and Bahn dished out a team high 20 assists. Nguyen picked up a team high 11 digs. Herron added 11 assists and Mitch Demko collected eight digs.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, February 27th when they travel to conference rival, NJCU for a 7pm match-up.
