TREADWELL LEADS RAMAPO IN 20TH WIN OF THE SEASON

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team, ranked #13 in the latest d3hoops.com National poll, defeated the Profs of Rowan University, 74-61 today at the Bradley Center. Behind 17 points from Stephon Treadwell, the Roadrunners improve to 20-2 overall and 14-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Rowan falls to 16-6 and 9-6 in the conference.

Treadwell finished the day shooting 7-15 from the field and 3-4 from the charity stripe, while Elgin Brown collected 15 points for Ramapo.  Elvonney Poole earned a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds, while Will Sanborn chipped in 13 points of his own.  Ramapo shot a combined 31-64 (48%) in their 20th win of the season.

Ramapo opened to a ten point, 39-29, halftime lead after Brown collected 15 points hitting 7-9 from the field. The Roadrunners pushed to a 20-9 lead to open the game, with Garret Thiel capping off a 14-0 run with a three point goal and 12:24 on the clock. Treadwell gave Ramapo their biggest lead of the half with 8:12 to play, when he nailed a jump shot to go ahead, 28-13. Rowan would string together nine points to Ramapo's two, to come within eight, 22-30, with just over five minutes to play. Just over one minute later, with Ramapo ahead, 32-24, Brown would spark a mini 5-0 run with an and-one play, to jump ahead 37-24. Treadwell closed out the half for Ramapo with two free throws and Rich McNamara recorded a tip-in and a three pointer with 34 seconds to go, finishing the half with Ramapo on top, 39-29. The Roadrunners combined for 16 field goals on 35 attempts in the half, nailing 46% of their shots. Rowan went 13-33 (38%). Treadwell finished the half with 11 points and Fred Battee and Dee Benson each netted six points for the Profs. Brown grabbed a team leading six rebounds to add to his team leading 15 points.

The Roadrunners pushed ahead by 13 points at the start of the second half, after a jumper from Elvonney Poole gave Ramapo a 45-32 lead with 17:49 on the clock. The Profs answered with an 8-1 run to come within six points, 40-46, with just over 15 minutes to play. With 13:10 on the clock, Poole sparked a 9-0 Ramapo run to spread their lead to 17 points, 59-42. Anthony LoRusso sunk a free throw to cap off the run with 9:38 to play. Rowan strung together three baskets to again close in on Ramapo, 48-59, forcing a Ramapo time out with 8:22 to go. The two teams traded baskets the remainder of the game leaving Ramapo on top by double digit figures the rest of the way, taking a 74-61 victory at the buzzer.  Poole led Ramapo with a double-double sinking 14 points and pulling down ten rebounds. The team combined hitting 15-29 (52%) in the half while Rowan went 13-38 (34%), behind 11 points from Jason Rosenberg.

Bensen finished the day with 12 points and Rosenberg, McNamara, and Kendall White each collected 11 points for the Profs. The team went 26-71 (37%). Rosenberg dished out six assists and Phil Jackson grabbed four steals in the loss.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, February 6th when they travel to Rutgers Newark for an 8pm tip.
