NJCU TOPS RAMAPO, 88-78, IN NJAC MEN'S BASKETBALL ACTION

Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to NJAC rival New Jersey City University tonight at the Bradley Center. The Gothic Knights improve to 4-0 overall, 1-0 in the conference with the 88-78 road win. The Roadrunners drop to 0-2 overall, 0-1 in the NJAC.

Six Gothic Knights scored in double figures as Walik Albright scored a team high 21 points. He also grabbed a team high nine rebounds and collected four assists and three steals. Jourdan Roberson and Khalid Muhammad each scored 16 points while David Cole collected 13 of his own. Eddie Brown tallied 11 points while Faraji James sank ten points. Roberson dished out a team high seven assists while he sank a team high four three-pointers.

Three Roadrunners scored in double figures in the game led by Terry HIcks with 24 points while Jermaine Emmanuel totalled 17 points in the game along with three assists and one steal. Loren Jackson recorded the first basket for either team, following a steal he went on a fast break and slammed down a dunk just 34 seconds into the game.

NJCU jumped out to a 10-4 lead before Ramapo went on 12-0 run to take a 16-10 lead with 13:34 on the clock. The two teams traded baskets while Ramapo went up by as many as eight on a made jumper from George Sapp with 7:02 (26-18). NJCU would sink back to back to back three pointers to take a, 27-26 lead with 5:04 on the clock. NJCU took a seven point lead, 40-33 with 1:29 left on the clocked with a made three from Khalid Muhammad. Ramapo would make back to back baskets from Hicks and Frank Nock to cut the lead to three, 37-40, heading into the locker room.
The Gothic Knights shot 50% from the field (15-30) and 40% from the three-point line (6-15). NJCU also shot 66% from the foul line, 4-6. The Roadrunners shot 69% from the field (16-23) and 4-12 from the foul line (33%).

NJCU jumped out to a ten point lead, 47-37, with a made basket from James with 17:23 before Ramapo went on a 7-0 run capped off by back to back three pointers from John Martens, shrinking the lead to three, 44-47 (15:57). NJCU led the entire second half, their biggest lead coming with just 1:26 left on the clock, 83-72. The two teams traded made foul shots before Nock sank a jumper to cut the lead to nine, 76-85, with 38 seconds on the clock. NJCU would hit three of five foul shots in the final 37 seconds of the game before Ramapo scored the final basket with eight seconds on the clock, a jumper from Jermaine Emanuel, 78-88.

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday when they travel to NJAC rival Kean University for a 8:00pm game.
