Box Score Doylestown, PA: The Ramapo College men's basketball team opened the 2013-2014 season with a 92-83 loss to Delaware Valley in a non-conference match-up on the road this evening. Delaware Valley improves to 2-1 overall on the year and gives Ramapo their first loss of the season, opening the year at 0-1.
After a quick start from Delaware Valley, which left the Roadrunners trailing by nine (2-11), a 13-0 run, sparked by Jermaine Emmanuel at 15:34, gave Ramapo a two point lead (19-17), with just under 12 minutes to play in the first half. The run was broken by a layup from Steve Wade that led to back-and-forth play the remainder of the game. From there, a max of seven points separated the two teams in what turned out to be a close finish, ending in a tie after regulation play, 79-79. Delaware Valley came out on top in the end as the team pulled away with the nine-point victory in overtime.
Jay Donovan shot 9-12 from the field and finished the night with a team leading 28 points. Francis Arnold sank 22 points and Chris Moran collected 18 as the team shot a combined 32-67 (48%) in the win. Arnold dished out seven assists and Moran pulled down 12 rebounds.
Emmanuel led the Roadrunners with 19 points shooting 6-15 from the field.
John Martens chipped in 13 points while
Frank Nock and
Tyler Barnes each netted 11 points of their own. Barnes completed a double-double with a team leading 12 rebounds. The Roadrunners shot 29-63 (46%) as a team.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, November 23rd when they host New Jersey City University at 3pm at the Bradley Center on the Mahwah campus.
