KEAN SLIPS PAST RAMAPO, 3-2

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The Kean University Cougars women's soccer team defeated Ramapo College today, 3-2, at the Athletic Center. The Cougars improved to 7-3-1 overall, 4-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners fall to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

The Cougars used an second half goal (62:44) by Angie Lopez, her eighth of the season, to hold off the Roadrunner come back.

In the first half, Sam Marchetti scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season, back to back in the 13th and 14th minutes of the game to put the Cougars up 2-0.

In the second half, Ramapo's Autumn Herring took a pass from Katie Popowych inside the box as she hit the back of the net to cut the Kean lead to one, 1-2, with 29:40 left in the game.

Marchetti would then assist on Lopez's goal with 62:44 on the clock to take a 3-1 lead. Ramapo's Katie Popowych would score her fourth goal of the season in the 81st minute off a pass from Herring to come within one, 2-3. Campbell Duffy almost tied the game at three with a shot from beyond the 18-yard box with 7:56 on the clock,  as Kean goalie KC Nunez made a diving save to protect the lead.

Ramapo could not get a shot off in the final seven minutes of play as Kean held on for the 3-2 victory.

Nunez tallied six saves in the game for the Cougars while Roadrunner goalie, Talia Auslin posted three saves of her own.

Ramapo held a 15-11 advantage in shots in the game and a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Roadrunners will return to action on Wednesday, October 9th when they travel to NJAC rival William Paterson University for a 5pm game.
