Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to NJAC rival William Paterson University tonight at the Bradley Center, 65-64. The Pioneers snapped the Roadrunners' four game win streak as they improve to 8-5 overall, 5-4 in the conference, while Ramapo falls to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the NJAC.

Garret Thiel led the Roadrunners in the first half with 15 points as Ramapo took a 37-31 lead heading into the intermission. With a jump shot from
Elgin Brown, Ramapo took a 6-5 lead with 16:18 on the clock. The two teams traded baskets coming to a 14-14 tie, with 13:01 to play, after a three-point goal from
Will Sanborn. The game's sixth tie (22-22) came seven minutes later when Thiel drained a three-pointer of his own. The Roadrunners would take a 28-24 lead, before the Pioneers closed the gap, 27-28 with a three-pointer of their own by Rick DeStefano with 3:51 on the clock. Ramapo responded with a 6-2 run, capped off by a made basket by Brown, 34-29, with just over two minutes remaining. WPU hit a basket with just under one minute to go, before Sanborn nailed a deep three-pointer to put the Roadrunners up six, 37-31 with 24 seconds left in the half. The score remained until the halftime buzzer where Ramapo shot a combined 14-29 (48%).
In the second half, WPU went on a 9-2 run to take a one point lead, 40-39 (17:58), on a dunk by Terik Bridgeman.The Pioneers would again go on a 10-2 run capped off by a made foul shot by Julio Rosario, to take a nine point lead, 50-41 with 13:06 on the clock. Ramapo shrunk the lead to five, 49-54 (8:15), on a jumper by Brown before WPU extended their lead to seven, 58-51 (4:58), on a jumper by Lance Brown. The Roadrunners cut the lead to two, 58-60, on two made foul shots by Brown, with 3:13 to go in the game, before the two teams traded baskets with WPU holding a two point lead, 62-60 with 1:42 on the clock. A made foul shot by WPU's DeStefano made the score 64-60 with 27 seconds to go in the game, before
Anthony LoRusso hit a jumper to come within two, 62-64 with 18 seconds left in the game.
With 11 seconds to go, DeStefano went to the foul line and made one of two to take a three point lead, 65-62. Ramapo would miss a three point shot with six seconds left in the game, before
Stephon Treadwell put back a tip-in off a missed Ramapo foul shot to come within one, 64-65. Ramapo fouled on the next play and WPU missed both foul shots with three seconds to go. The Roadrunners last second shot attempt came up short sending the Pioneers home with a 65-64 NJAC road victory.
Brown led the Roadrunners with a double-double, 18 points and ten rebounds while, Thiel added 15 points and nine rebounds along with four assists in the game. Ramapo shot 26-61 (42%) from the field and 8-15 (53%) from the foul line.
For the Pioneers, Brown led both teams with 27 points as he was 10-22 from the field and 5-7 from the foul line, while he grabbed a team high 14 rebounds in 37 minutes of play. DeStefano added 16 points of his own, while Bridgeman posted nine points and nine rebounds in the game. WPU shot 37% (22-58) from the floor and 69% (16-23) from the foul line in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday when they travel to NJAC rival Richard Stockton College for a 3:00pm game.
